Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., sent his “prayers & best wishes” to former colleague Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., following Reid’s surgery Monday to address his pancreatic cancer.
“From one cantankerous senator to another, sending my prayers & best wishes to @SenatorReid as he recovers from a successful surgery,” McCain wrote on Twitter Monday.

Reid’s family said Monday that the ex-senator’s cancer was detected early and that the “prognosis for his recovery is good.”
“Today, Former Democratic Leader Harry Reid underwent surgery at Johns Hopkins Cancer Center to remove a tumor from his pancreas,” his family said in a statement.
“He will undergo chemotherapy as the next step in his treatment,” they continued. “He is now out of surgery, in good spirits and resting with his family. He is grateful to his highly skilled team of doctors and to all who have sent and continue to send their love and support.”
McCain was diagnosed in 2017 with a form of a brain cancer known as glioblastoma and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. He has remained in Arizona since December, where he is recovering from both treatments.
