Trump to make final decision on Paris climate agreement ‘next week’

President Trump said on Saturday that he will make his final decision on the Paris climate agreement next week.

“I will make my final decision on the Paris Accord next week,” Trump tweeted.

National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn told reporters in Sicily on Friday that the president’s views are “evolving” and that he is still thinking through whether America should withdraw from the agreement.

More than 20 Republican senators, led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, sent a letter Thursday to Trump asking him to leave the Paris climate agreement. They say the deal poses a “significant litigation risk” and would make it more difficult to rescind the Obama-era Clean Power Plan. Meanwhile Democrats are urging Trump not to withdraw the U.S. from the agreement.
