Md. students rake in $240K from Northrop

Northrop Grumman is awarding $240,000 in scholarship money to 24 high school graduates from Maryland.

The defense contractor, which chose to relocate its headquarters to Virginia over Maryland earlier this year, is giving out only two scholarships to Virginians.

Northrop focuses its recruitment on areas where its electronic systems are a “major presence,” according to the company’s scholarship guidelines.

Students pursuing a career in engineering are eligible for the $10,000 scholarships. One high school senior from every Maryland county and Baltimore were selected for the award, as well as two seniors from Albemarle County in Virginia. High school seniors in eight other states received scholarships.
