The nurses union at the Washington Hospital Center is planning a one day strike the day before Thanksgiving to protest staffing problems.
National Nurses United has been voicing concerns about under-staffing issues at the hospital in Northwest Washingtonfor years. Earlier this month, they issued a report citing examples of harm caused to patients the union says resulted from there being too few nurses.
The union said in a statement Thursday afternoon that 90 percent of its 1,600 members at the hospital voted in favor of the strike. It will start at 7 a.m. Nov. 24 and end at 6:59 a.m., Nov. 25.
