RUNNING
April 25: Pike’s Peek 10K, Rockville, 7:30 a.m. Runners start at the Shady Grove Metro station and then run downhill along Rockville Pike to White Flint mall. Info: pikespeek10k.com.
April 25: Blossoms of Hope Half Marathon, Columbia, 7 a.m. The race is an out-and-back course through Columbia and is part of a group of events, including a relay, three non-competitive bike rides and a 5K. Info: tricolumbia.org.
SWIMMING & TRIATHLON
May 2: Nanticoke Triathlon, Bivalve, Md. The Nanticoke River Swim & Triathlon Association holds this open-water swim and triathlon early in the season. It is a sprint triathlon, with an 0.8k swim, 24.14k bike and 4.99k run. Swimmers can choose between a 3-mile and a half-mile swim. The water temperature is expected to be 62.
