Trump blasts social media double standard in tweetstorm

President Trump wants the New York Times, CNN, and others to be held to the same standard as conservative figures who have been banned from Facebook and Twitter.

“Why is @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @CNN, @MSNBC allowed to be on Twitter & Facebook. Much of what they do is FAKE NEWS!” Trump tweeted Saturday.

He made the comment after retweeting posts from right-of-center supporters who back his stance that conservatives are being unfairly targeted on social media.

Facebook announced earlier this week it would ban extremist figures like Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, Infowars host Alex Jones, and Milo Yiannopoulos. Both Facebook and Twitter have drawn controversy for removing or allegedly “shadow banning” — making accounts unsearchable — more mainstream conservative figures and politicians.

Trump said in an earlier post that he will continue to monitor the banning of right-wing figures like “the wonderful” Diamond and Silk duo, actor James Woods, and Paul Watson.

“This is the United States of America — and we have what’s known as FREEDOM OF SPEECH!” he blasted.

“It’s getting worse and worse for Conservatives on social media!” Trump tweeted, noting that pro-Trump bloggers Diamond and Silk have been treated “horribly” by Facebook, in particular.

“They work so hard and what has been done to them is very sad,” Trump said.

Trump also said he was surprised that both conservatives Woods and Watson were banned from Twitter and Facebook, retweeting a story published by Breitbart on how Woods had been locked out his social media accounts.

Trump retweeted Mindy Robinson, right-wing actress and host of “Red, White, and F You,” who had posted a comment admonishing the fact the Woods had been banned.

“So James Woods was kicked off Twitter for quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson…but @TalbertSwan the racist fake man of God, that’s SUPPOSED to be permanently banned for hate speech is back on? What have you to say @jack @Twitter?”

Trump also retweeted Sharyl Attkisson, an investigative journalist with Full Measure News, who asked: “When did we decide, as Americans, that it’s ok fo govt & 3d parties to censor/ curate our info?”
