Gunshot victim and former lawmaker Gabrielle Giffords slammed President Trump’s tweet that “we are not having a gun debate now” after the London Bridge terror attack.
Trump’s tweet came after a terrorist attack where perpetrators struck pedestrians with a van and then stabbed several people in London on Saturday night.
“Do you notice we are not having a gun debate right now? That’s because they used knives and a truck!” he tweeted.
Giffords responded on Twitter that “every day we are having a gun debate because every day 90 people in our country die from gun violence. Many of them are kids.”

Giffords was serving as an Arizona lawmaker when she was shot in a 2011 rampage that left six people killed and 14 wounded. She had to resign her seat in Congress in order to recover from her wounds.
Since being shot, Giffords has become a gun control activist and has lobbied lawmakers to increase restrictions on firearms access.
