A House committee is trying to restore regulations on outdoor liquor advertisements after a decree last month that loosened restrictions on liquor billboard ads.
The Lamar Advertising Company sued the state in September of last year, arguing that the regulation limiting the alcohol ads was unconstitutional.
Citing recent Supreme Court cases, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli advised Gov. Bob McDonnell to stop enforcing the regulation.
“There are people who are upset about [it], but the law’s the law,” Cuccinelli said.
Del. Dave Albo, R-Fairfax, said that legislators amended a bill Thursday in an attempt to get regulations that are constitutional back on the state’s books.
