Trump: I’m ‘trying hard for peace’ in the Middle East

President Trump said Tuesday he is “trying hard for peace” in the Middle East after traveling to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

“Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East were great,” Trump tweeted. “Trying hard for PEACE. Doing well. Heading to Vatican & Pope, then #G7 and #NATO.”

Trump is on his first foreign trip as president. Over the weekend, he delivered a speech to Muslim leaders in Saudi Arabia and spent the last two days meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Trump also tweeted: “All civilized nations must join together to protect human life and the sacred right of our citizens to live in safety and in peace.”

Trump on Monday became the first sitting president to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem. His Twitter banner is now a photo of him in prayer at the wall.
