Dr. Deborah Sellmeyer

Dr. Deborah Sellmeyer was appointed medical director of the new Johns Hopkins Metabolic Bone Center at Baltimore’s Bayview campus.

The center, a multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to preventing and treating skeletal disorders and fractures, will focus on metabolic bone diseases, which are disorders of bone strength commonly caused by abnormalities of minerals, vitamin D, bone mass or bone structure, such as osteoporosis.

Sellmeyer, an internationally recognized expert on osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases, was director of the University of California, San Francisco/Mount Zion Osteoporosis Center.
