Local officials confirmed that four of the seven people killed in an Iowa tornado on Saturday were related to each other.
The identified names arose after the storm destroyed 25-30 homes and left more than 10,000 Iowa residents without power.
The four individuals included two children, their grandmother, and their father, a spokesperson from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office told KCCI.

The two children, Kenley and Owen Bolger, were visiting their grandmother Melissa Bazley right as the storm hit, the spokesperson said. The children’s father was also among the dead. The children’s mother, their grandfather, and two additional children survived by hiding in a local pantry.
“Our hearts go out to all those affected by the deadly storms that tore through our state today,” said Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds in a Saturday statement. “Kevin and I join with Iowans in prayer for those that lost their lives and those injured. Our hearts ache during this time, but I know Iowans will step up and come together to help in this time of need — they already are.”

Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Madison County on Saturday in response to the severe weather, allowing state resources to be utilized in the county to assist with response and recovery efforts. The governor’s office stated that additional counties might be added in the future to the proclamation.
A fundraiser has been set up for the family and is receiving donations here.
