Trump adviser: Debate fact-checking might be ‘little bit tougher’ for Republican nominee

Donald Trump’s communications adviser expressed concern that the fact-checking during Monday’s presidential debate for the Republican nominee will be “a little bit tougher” than for his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.

“I think there is some concern that things might be a little bit tougher for Mr. Trump just since there was so much blowback against NBC after the Commander in Chief Forum a couple of weeks ago,” Jason Miller said during a CNN interview Monday morning.

NBC News’ Commander in Chief Forum host Matt Lauer was criticized earlier this month for failing to push back against Trump’s apparently contradictory statements about the Iraq War.

Miller said he expected Monday’s moderator Lester Holt to be “very fair this evening,” adding that he believes Trump will be “ready to make his case, defend his positions.”

“I think he will do well,” Miller said.
