Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell disputed President Trump’s claim he told him his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “the most innocent phone call” he had read.
Trump made the claim earlier this month.

When reporters asked McConnell about it on Tuesday, the Kentucky Republican denied it.
“We’ve not had any conversations on that subject,” McConnell told reporters.
A reporter then asked McConnell if the president was lying about him characterizing the call as innocent.
“You’ll have to ask him,” McConnell said. “I don’t recall any conversations with the president about that phone call.”
House Democrats have launched an impeachment inquiry into Trump based on the call to Zelensky, which they believe is evidence the president was trying to force the Ukrainian government to investigate former vice president and current Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden.
