Donald Trump called for an end to terrorism and violence following Friday’s mass shooting inside a McDonald’s in Munich.
“Our prayers are with all those affected by the horrible attacks in Munich. This cannot continue. The rise of terrorism threatens the way of life for all civilized people, and we must do everything in our power to keep it from our shores,” the Republican presidential nominee said.
Less than 24 hours after Trump lectured voters about the disconcerting state of safety in the world, a group of gunmen opened fire on restaurant-goers in the country’s third-largest city. Eight people were killed and an unknown number of others wounded.
It is the third terrorist attack in Western Europe in the past eight days, following incidents in Nice, France, and on a train in southern Germany.
