Trump indicates he will cooperate with House Judiciary probe while terming it a ‘hoax’

President Trump Monday suggested he would cooperate with a House Judiciary Committee probing potentially impeachable offenses, but he also said the investigation was a “political hoax.”

Asked by a reporter at a White House event whether he would cooperate with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., Trump said, “I cooperate all the time with everybody.”

But Trump also suggested the probe was meritless.

“You know the beautiful thing? No collusion,” Trump said. “It’s all a hoax. You’re going to learn about that as you grow older. It’s a political hoax. There’s no collusion. There’s no anything.”

Trump spoke at a gathering with players from the North Dakota State University football team, who won the 2018 NCAA Division I Football Subdivision championship in January.

On Monday morning, led by Nadler, House Democrats launched a comprehensive investigation into many of Trump’s current and former employees, subordinates, and associates, sending out 81 requests for documents from people and entities connected to the president. Nadler is looking into a variety of matters, including obstruction of justice, public corruption, and abuses of power.

Those under investigation include the FBI, the Department of Justice, Trump’s former attorney general, Jeff Sessions, his former fixer, Michael Cohen, and his former White House communications director, Hope Hicks. Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner, as well as his sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., are also on the list, though his daughter and senior advisor Ivanka Trump is not.

At the meeting, Trump gave the football players free Chick-Fil-A and Big Mac sandwiches. After answering the question about Nadler’s investigations, the president waved his hand and told the players to go eat.

“Folks, go and eat up,” he ordered.
