Riders on Metro’s Green Line are experiencing extra delays Sunday after a piece of equipment fell on an electrified third rail outside West Hyattsville, welding to it.

A cover board somehow dislodged and fell onto the third rail Sunday afternoon, creating lots of smoke but no fire, said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.
