Former President Donald Trump’s Washington, D.C., hotel posted a video on Wednesday that showed the hotel serving as a rest area for local police officers.
“A heart full of gratitude to all our law enforcement officers…Enjoy America’s Living Room and great having you all with us… @DCPoliceDept,” Mickael Damelincourt, the managing director for the district’s Trump International Hotel, tweeted on Wednesday morning, just before President Biden was inaugurated blocks away.

Treatment of military and officers has been in the spotlight this week as news broke of National Guard troops being forced to sleep in a parking garage. pic.twitter.com/xsaxMFyj77

The video was posted the same week that National Guard troops were relegated to sleeping in a parking lot after securing the inauguration, drawing outrage from politicians on social media.
“I just visited the solders who have been abandoned & insulted by our leaders,” freshman Rep. Madison Cawthorn, a Republican, tweeted on Thursday. “I brought them pizza and told them that they can sleep in my office. No soldier will ever, ever sleep on a garage floor in the US Capitol while I work in Congress. Our Troops deserve better.”

Governors across the country also expressed outrage after hearing that the Biden administration was investigating the backgrounds of National Guardsmen overseeing the inauguration.
“This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, tweeted earlier this week. “No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. @TexasGuard I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC. I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.”
