A Rockville man was sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison for his role in a violent robbery of a house full of Catholic University students and a subsequent shootout with police that left two accomplices dead.

Stefan Fields,22,  was the lone surviving robber in the incident, which happened on the night of Feb. 14 at a home in the 1000 block of Irving Street in Northeast Washington, near the Catholic University of America. Several students lived in the home and there were about 10 people inside.

His companions, 21-year-old Akeem Cayo and 19-year-old Dayvonne Sealy, were killed after trying to shoot their way out of  the home that was surrounded by D.C. police.

Fields pleaded guilty in May to first-degree burglary while armed and assault with intent to rob while armed.
