Giuliani: No One Will Defend Trump’s Comments About Women

Trump surrogate and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani said Sunday that no one would be defending Donald Trump’s remarks about women, after a tape from 2005 released Friday caught the businessman lewdly bragging about sexual acts.

“I don’t think anyone is going to defend his remarks,” Giuliani said on Fox News Sunday. “I’m not here to defend his comments. If he were here, he wouldn’t be defending his comments.”

“His comments were wrong. They were very wrong. Reprehensible, and he’s said that and he’s apologized for it.”

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway was slated to appear on the show instead of Giuliani, but the campaign swapped Conway out on Saturday due to “scheduling,” Giuliani said.

A host of evangelical leaders said they would be sticking by Trump despite his vulgar comments, while a number of Republican lawmakers have withdrawn their support after the release of the tape, including Arizona senator John McCain, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, and New Hampshire senator Kelly Ayotte.

Trump running mate Indiana governor Mike Pence also said Saturday that he “cannot defend” Trump’s remarks.
