President Trump touted a new poll showing his approval rating above 50 percent, pointing to President Obama’s rating in the same poll at the same time as proof he’s doing a good job.
“Just hit 50% in the Rasmussen Poll, much higher than President Obama at same point,” Trump tweeted Sunday morning. “With all of the phony stories and Fake News, it’s hard to believe! Thank you America, we are doing Great Things.”

At this point of the presidency, a 50 percent approval puts Trump higher than former President Barack Obama’s approval at the same time by 2 points.
However, Trump said he understands if some don’t believe his approval is as high as it is because of “fake news” reports that it is at least 10 points lower.
But, that’s not quite “fake news” — according to RealClearPolitics, most other polls have Trump’s approval rating between 39 percent and 44 percent. The Real Clear Politics average of polls puts Trump’s approval rating at 42.5 percent.
On April 2, Rasmussen also reported that Trump’s approval reached 50 percent.Trump thanked the conservative-leaning pollster for their “honest polling.”
