Howard officials plan to announce today an initiative to identify all county youth whose parents don’t have affordable access to health care.
Howard Health Officer Dr. Peter Beilenson, County Executive Ken Ulman and School Superintendent Sydney Cousin will discuss the new health outreach effort at a news conference at the county office buildings.
The effort comes on the heels of a program to offer low-cost health insurance to 175 county residents through a program with Kaiser Permanente health insurance company.
The health department also plans later this month to unveil details of a program to increase access to health care for people in the county who are uninsured.
