The first political message of the Super Bowl came when three of the original Broadway stars from “Hamilton” added the word “sisterhood” during their singing of “America the Beautiful” Sunday night.
Renee Elise Goldsberry, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Phillipa Soo added “sisterhood” after the traditional mention of “brotherhood.”
“America! America! God shed his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood — and sisterhood,” the women sang, “From sea to shining sea.”
“Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda praised the performers’ addition of “sisterhood,” tweeting a photo of the trio along with the caption, “AND SISTERHOOD.”
