Baltimore County’s annual Christmas Tree lighting is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. in Towson’s Olympic Park, officials said.
The event, on the corner of Allegheny Avenue and the traffic circle, will feature free hot chocolate and cookies, holiday music and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Allegheny Avenue will be closed to traffic from Washington Avenue to the traffic circle from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. that day, officials said.
The county will collect new, unwrapped toys of children’s gifts at the event. Toys also will be collected through Dec. 24 at all Bradford Bank branches throughout the county, Silhouettes in the Kenwood Shopping Center or any library branch.
Motorists can park for free at meters in downtown Arbutus, Catonsville, Dundalk, Essex, Liberty Road, Loch Raven, Overlea-Fullerton, Parkville, Pikesville, Reisterstown, Towson and Woodlawn Village this weekend and from Dec. 14-21.
