Trump to dine with Kevin McCarthy at supporters’ event

President Trump will attend a dinner Wednesday evening with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., that will be hosted by America First Action, a group created to support his policies, according to a person familiar with the plan.

The White House had described the event only as a “private dinner with supporters” on the president’s official schedule.

Trump’s attendance at the dinner will be the second time in just two weeks that he has ventured out of the White House for a private event hosted by America First. He attended another one on March 27, although the pro-Trump group maintained at the time that the dinner was not a political fundraiser.

A White House aide told the Washington Examiner the event is not a fundraiser and noted “no funds were solicited” in connection with the dinner.
