Sebelius Offers No Excuse for Hillary’s Email Troubles

Even Kathleen Sebelius isn’t going out of her way to defend Hillary Clinton. The former secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services denied using private email while she served in the Obama administration.

“No,” Sebelius said in response to a question about whether she used a private email system, according to an article in the Topeka Capital-Journal.

“We were told specifically, in our department at least, that we needed to use government emails and even if you receive something on your private email that was professional, you needed to transfer it over to your government email and respond that way.”

The implication of Sebelius’s remarks is clear: she didn’t use a private email system because it was against the rules. Unlike another high-profile cabinet official.

Former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley, who was at the same event as Sebelius, also pass up an opportunity to defend Clinton.

“I didn’t come here to talk about the email issue but I’m glad to have a conversation about the things we need to do to complete reform of Wall Street,” O’Malley is quoted by the Topeka Capital-Journal as saying. “When it comes to other issues that define our principles as a nation like immigration and drivers license’s for not-yet-naturalized citizens so they can drive safely to and from work and get insurance, I think these are the issues that are going to define this next race, not email policies.”
