No injuries in fire at State Department annex

Firefighters have put out a fire at a State Department building in Foggy Bottom, officials said.

The fire occurred around 5:50 a.m. Tuesday on the fifth floor in the State Department annex at 2401 E St. NW. No one was injured, Batallion Fire Chief Brian K. Lee said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. A state department spokeswoman said the building is closed because of the fire, and workers are telecommuting.
