Police rule Dundalk fire was arson

Baltimore County fire investigators have determined a blaze that ravaged the scene of an attempted murder in Dundalk last week was deliberately set.

A fire Wednesday destroyed the same home on the unit block of North Dundalk Avenue where police said a love triangle led to attempted murder May 18. Officials said it?s still too early to conclusively link the two incidents and refused to disclose details of their investigation.

“They are still conducting interviews with people,” fire department spokeswoman Elise Armacost said.

Neighbors last week said the house has remained vacant since May 18, when owner Kenneth Allen was shot, allegedly by his wife?s lover after she confessed to their affair. Police arrested Ricky Kevin Wilkins, who was released on $100,000 bail on May 24 and indicted Monday.

Joann Hamburg, who lives two doors down from the scene, said Allen?s wife returned home to retrieve belongings, and told her she feared “retaliation.” Another neighbor who asked not to remain anonymous said two area teens were spotted coming out of the home soon before the fire.

Baltimore County has recorded 67 arsons through April 21, according to Armacost.
