283 ISIS affiliates arrested in Turkey in sting operation

Turkish officials over the last 11 days have detained 283 people who are believed to be affiliated with the Islamic State, according to government officials.

Police in Turkey have also seized 66 improvised explosive devices while carrying out the operation.

The hundreds of alleged ISIS associates were picked up in 25 provinces across Turkey. The majority of arrestees, 187 people, are not Turkish nationals, though a report of the document did not say where they originated.

The Islamic State has carried out some of its most deadly attacks in Turkey. More than 300 people have been killed in ISIS attacks since 2015.
