D.C. fire officials said an “excessive use of roach bombs” for the cause of the explosion that rocked a townhouse in Southwest Washington.
The explosion happened around 11 a.m. Monday. Fire officials believe chemicals from the roach killers were ignited by a pilot light in the gas stove, causing an explosion that blew out the windows in the front and rear of the three-story townhouse at 1446 Fourth St. SW, said D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.
Three people were being evaluated for possible exposure but no one had been transported to hospital., according to D.C. fire officials.
