Local workers join UAW’s strike of GM

About 360 hourly employees have left the General Motors Powertrain Baltimore plant in Baltimore County, as the United Auto Workers has launched a national strike against GM, according to a plant spokesman.

“We?re just waiting to see what will happen,” said John Raut, plant spokesman. “Everybody left the plant safely.”

UAW has launched the first nationwide strike during auto contract negotiations since 1976.

UAW?s strike deadline was 11 a.m. Monday.

“As of Monday morning, the bargaining continues,” said Daniel Flores, GM spokesman.
