Md. woman in critical condition after catching fire

A Maryland woman is in critical condition after catching fire and setting part of her home ablaze.

The 57-year-old woman caught fire in her backyard at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Several fire spots ignited inside her garage and home on the 900 block of South Warfield Drive in Mount Airy when she went inside for help.

The sheriff’s office said gasoline was found in the area where the woman caught fire, but it’s still unclear exactly what happened.

The woman suffered significant burn injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition. Her 84-year-old father, who tried to help her, suffered a minor burn to his hand.
