OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Two-time Preakness-winning trainer Steve Asmussen will be inducted into the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame at Remington Park during a ceremony this September.
Remington Park announced this year’s hall of fame class on Friday. It also includes owner and breeder Don McNeill, former track executive David Vance and celebrated horses Kip Deville and Highland Ice.
Asmussen won the first leading trainer title of his career at Remington Park in 1991 before going on to become one of the top trainers in the sport. He has also won the last five training titles at Remington.
Kip Deville is the all-time earnings leader among Oklahoma-bred horses, netting $3.3 million and winning the 2007 Breeders Cup Mile.
Highland Ice was a sprinter who won 15 races at Remington between 1996 and 1999.
