Hillary Clinton is set to appear at the annual Women’s Leadership Forum to raise funds for the Democratic National Committee in May.
In addition to Clinton, Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y. will also be participating in the fundraiser next month, according to BuzzFeed News. Clinton will be making opening remarks at a welcome reception, and Harris will be the event’s keynote speaker.
The fundraiser is the first Clinton has participated in for the DNC following the 2016 election in which she was the Democratic nominee. The DNC has held the Women’s Leadership Forum since 1993 and is promoting “Women Will Vote” as the overarching theme for the event, a DNC official told BuzzFeed News.
Earlier this year, Clinton held a New York fundraiser for Onward Together, a nonprofit group Clinton founded in May 2017 that is designed to assist progressive causes.
The DNC has failed to keep up with the Republican National Committee’s fundraising efforts. In 2017, the DNC raised approximately $67 million while the RNC raised $132.5 million.
