Johnson fails to secure Libertarian nomination on first ballot

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson fell short of the number of votes needed to clinch the party’s presidential nomination on the first ballot, according to ABC News.

ABC tweeted our results that gave Johnson 458 votes at the party’s convention, which is being held today in Orlando. “Gary Johnson needed 463 votes to earn a majority on the first ballot. He got 458 votes,” tweeted ABC’s Ryan Struyk.

Johnson, a former governor of New Mexico, was the Libertarian Party’s candidate for president in 2012.
