Paula White, the head of the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative, asked viewers for “seed” money while she led a prayer session on the coronavirus.
“Every single day we are a hospital to the sick, not necessarily the physically sick,” White said during the session. “We are a hospital for those who are soul-sick, those who are spiritually sick.”
“Maybe you’d like to sow a $91 seed,” she said. “Or maybe $9. Or whatever God tells you to do.”
White left the church she was heading last year to head the president’s Faith and Opportunity Initiative. She has been an adviser to the president on issues of faith.
Last November, White told the Washington Examiner that Trump wanted to build a megachurch. “He wanted to build a house of God,” she said. “He said, ‘Let’s do this. Let’s build this before we’re too old.'”
White has been criticized in the past for her methods of soliciting money. Last year, she told her congregation that God would provide spiritual guidance to those who gave money to her ministry.
