Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan underwent triple bypass surgery on Wednesday.
The surgery was a preemptive measure to a cardiac issue, his office said in a statement. Pocan, a Democrat, represents Madison, Wis., and the surrounding area.
His office did not give an exact date he would return to Congress.
“The surgery went well and Mark is looking forward to a speedy recovery so he can return to Washington soon,” a statement from his office read.
Pocan has been a member of Congress since 2013. He is co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
