Kellyanne Conway, who served as President-elect Trump’s campaign manager, believes that Hillary Clinton was affected at the second presidential debate by the presence of three women who have accused of Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct.
On a Fox News podcast released Tuesday, Conway described Clinton’s performance at the second debate as “halting.” In the audience were Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick, all of whom have accused the former president of sexual improprieties. Kathy Shelton, who was raped as a 12-year-old in Arkansas by a man that Hillary Clinton defended, was also there.
“I thought Hillary Clinton’s performance at that debate was a little bit halting,” Conway said. “Maybe part of it was the press conference that Donald Trump had before the debate with Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick and, certainly, Kathy Shelton, which is in a category by herself.”
“Hillary Clinton defended that rapist and got him a plea deal and then laughed about the polygraph test and the evidence,” Conway said, referring to Shelton’s case.
When asked specifically if their attendance affected Clinton’s performance, Conway said, “I know it did.”
“Because they were — listen, this is somebody who’s very scripted and when you’re scripted and you’re running against the most unscripted X-factor to ever explode onto the political scene, at least in our lifetimes … then you’re going to get ham-hit,” she said. “It’s, like, not in the script.”
“You know, a robot only has so many microchips in its database and that one wasn’t in there,” she added.
The second presidential debate took place only three days after an “Access Hollywood” video was released that featured Trump telling former host Billy Bush on a hot microphone that men in his situation “can do anything” to women.
