Washington Examiner editor-in-chief: Biden is a ‘lame duck’ dragging Democrats down

President Joe Biden is increasingly viewed as a “lame duck,” with even Democrats appearing to distance themselves, according to the Washington Examiner‘s editor-in-chief Hugo Gurdon.

Democratic officials in Pennsylvania claimed to have scheduling conflicts ahead of Biden’s planned visit to Pittsburgh on Friday, declining to appear with the president as he touts his administration’s accomplishments ahead of the midterm elections.

“You sometimes see Joe Biden talking in front of the cameras, and he says, ‘I’m not supposed to take questions,’ or ‘I’m not meant to say that,'” Gurdon said Friday afternoon on Fox Business, adding that it seems “perfectly clear he’s being led around by the nose and by other people.”

“He should be watching these numbers,” Gurdon said regarding Biden’s plummeting poll numbers. “He wants, so he says, to be reelected in 2024, and he’s going about it in the exact opposite way he should.”

The Pew Research Center released a poll on Jan. 25, which showed that Biden had an approval rating of 41% compared to a 56% disapproval rating. A poll from RealClearPolitics showed that Biden had an average approval rating of 40.8% compared to a 53% disapproval rating.

“He’s very unpopular … [so] people who want to be elected to the Senate or elected governor of Pennsylvania, they don’t want to be seen with Joe Biden,” Gurdon said, pointing to the Scranton native’s poor approval ratings in the Keystone State. “He’s dragging his party down.”
