A $6 million nationwide television campaign attacking President Obama’s healthcare reforms is targeting six swing states — including Virginia — with a new ad set to begin airing Wednesday.
The minute-long spot produced by Concerned Women for America will also run on national cable outlets and social media sites. It features a female doctor insisting that the Affordable Care Act will compromise her relationship with her patients and drive up the cost of care.
The ad calls for replacing Obama’s signature domestic achievement with “real reforms” without specifying what those would be.
“Our members are highly energized on the aspects of the president’s health care law,” said Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America. “We are making a significant financial investment on this issue because we mean business.”
The ad comes as the Supreme Court is expected to decide whether the new law is constitutional by the end of the month.
The five other targeted battlegrounds include Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Wisconsin. According to the group, this is the first presidential ad to air in Minnesota. The New York Times’ political poll aggregating site, FiveThirtyEight.com, gives Obama a 91 percent chance of winning Minnesota this fall.
