WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A Chicago-area public library is in the running for national recognition.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services says the Waukegan library is a finalist for a National Medal for Museum and Library Service.
That’s the nation’s highest honor conferred on museums and libraries for community service.
Finalists are from nationwide nominations of institutions that show innovative approaches to public service and that offer significant contributions to their communities.
The institute is asking visitors of the Waukegan library to share their story about it on the institute’s Facebook page.
Winners of the medals are to be announced this spring.
