Cop accuses McDonald’s worker of eating his food — the investigation concluded the officer ate it

An Indiana police officer accused a McDonald’s worker of taking a bite out of his food after forgetting that he was the one who had eaten it earlier in the day.

The Marion County sheriff’s deputy, a regular at this particular McDonald’s, ordered a McChicken, fries, and cookies, but believed someone had taken a bite of the food when he opened the sandwich.

“I started to warm up my McChicken and I noticed several small bites. I know I didn’t eat it. No one else was around. I said, ‘You know what? I am going to the McDonald’s to see if they can get that taken care of,'” said the officer, whom WTHR identified as “DJ.”

He went back to the fast food restaurant and spoke to a supervisor, who offered him free food. McDonald’s launched a full investigation into the allegation, according to Huffington Post.

A Friday statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s office, however, uncovered who the culprit was.

“The employee took a bite out of the sandwich upon starting his shift at the Marion County Jail, then placed it in the refrigerator in a break room,” the statement reads. “He returned nearly seven hours later having forgotten that he had previously bitten the sandwich. He wrongly concluded that a McDonald’s restaurant employee had tampered with his food because he is a law enforcement officer.”

The officer apologized and has been disciplined.
