Fox News cut to commercial during a town hall with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg after a series of protests erupted from the audience.
Hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum conducted a town hall with the former New York City mayor on Monday. After Bloomberg answered an audience question on guns, several protesters stood up to challenge him.
An audience member took issue with Bloomberg’s response to the gun question, and, after apologizing to Baier and MacCallum for interrupting, began pushing Bloomberg further on the topic. Before the man could finish his question, however, several other protesters stood up and began yelling, “Stop and frisk is wrong!” and “Release the NDAs!”
The network then cut to commercial as security officers moved to control the protesters in the crowd.
After the break, MacCallum reminded the “lively crowd” to “respect each other, allow everyone to ask their questions, and to have a civil conversation.”
“We had multiple protests going at the same time,” Baier added, explaining the chaotic segment to the television audience. “We’ve dealt with that now, and we’re going to move on with questions.”
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, also running in the Democratic presidential primary, challenged Bloomberg to release a number of women who agreed to sign nondisclosure agreements while working for him. Bloomberg has said that he will release three women from their agreements if they want to terminate the contract. The three women signed NDAs after alleging that Bloomberg made inappropriate comments.
