Gas prices keep on creeping up

Maryland motorists are setting records ? with their wallets.

With regular unleaded gas selling for $3.20 a gallon nationally on Tuesday, an all-time record has been set.

Breaking the $3 mark on May 4, the average price of regular gas has not dipped below that mark for an all-time high of 29 consecutive days.

Locally, residents can expect to pay slightly less, at a little more than $3.11 per gallon. This price is more than 20 cents higher than the same time a month ago, and about 16 cents more than a year ago.

“With these budget-stretching and, in some cases, budget-breaking gasoline prices, motorists are looking for practical ways to save money and increase the fuel efficiencies of their vehicles,” said Ragina Averella, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.
