The National Park Service and the Civil War Trust are calling on volunteers for their annual hands-on preservation event to help complete maintenance projects at Civil War sites.
Civil War Park Day will be held Saturday at Fort Stevens in D.C. and Fort Foote in Fort Washington, Md. This year’s projects commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, and volunteers will be painting, clearing brush and removing trash.
Park Day at Fort Foote will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 8915 Fort Foote Road in Fort Washington. Fort Stevens’ projects will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 13th and Quackenbos Streets, NW.
