North Korea says missile test over Japan was ‘meaningful prelude to containing Guam’

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned that his country’s ballistic missile test over Japan on Tuesday was a “prelude to containing Guam.”

“The current ballistic rocket launching drill like a real war is the first step of the military operation of the KPA in the Pacific and a meaningful prelude to containing Guam,” Kim said Wednesday local time, according to state media outlet KCNA.

North Korea launched a sixth missile test over the northern end of Japan, the Pentagon confirmed Monday evening.

President Trump said Tuesday that “all options are on the table” for the U.S. after North Korea launched its latest missile.

Earlier this month, North Korea threatened to launch four Hwasong-12 missiles in the direction of U.S. territory Guam after Trump warned there would be “fire and fury” if North Korea took offensive action against the U.S. North Korea later backed off that threat, but warned Kim could change his mind “if the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions.”
