Over half of American voters believe Kanye West’s comments last week were to gain publicity

Fifty-two percent of Americans believe that rapper Kanye West’s comments regarding politics and slavery the past few weeks were made because he was seeking publicity, according to a CNN poll.

While 61 percent of Democrats believe what he said was done for publicity purposes, only 33 percent of Republicans feel the same way, indicating that more Republicans believe West made his comments because he truly believes them.

Overall, 23 percent of Americans have a favorable view of West following his tweets supporting President Trump and comments to TMZ that he believes that the hundreds of years of slavery in the U.S. was a choice by those who were enslaved.

His approval rating among African Americans is at 15 percent and 24 percent among white people.
