Actor Gary Sinise was bestowed with the Patriot Award, the highest civilian honor given out by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
Sinise was recognized at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California last week for contributing thousands of dollars and hours to improving the lives of veterans and their families.

In 2010, Sinise launched the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization dedicated to “serving our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.”
Late last year, Sinise paid for hundreds of family members of fallen service members to fly to Disneyland.
“Freedom and security are precious gifts that we, as Americans, should never take for granted. We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security,” he said. “While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.”
