Iranian president doesn’t approve of Trump, Clinton ‘mocking each other’

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani chided the U.S. presidential candidates on Sunday for their grating manner of addressing one another at last week’s debate.

“Did you see the debate and the way of their speaking, accusing and mocking each other? Do we want such a democracy and election in our country?” Rouhani said in the city of Arak, in central Iran, according to the Associated Press.

Rouhani added that during his visit to the UN General Assembly in September, he was asked about Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“I said, what? Should I prefer bad to worse or worse to bad?” Rouhani said.

Rouhani also criticized Trump last year for his proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States.

“Under the pretext of fighting terrorism, some people are proposing that Muslims should not be permitted to enter other countries. We regret such remarks about Muslims,” Rouhani said on Iranian state television. “This is while they themselves are among the sponsors and supporters of terrorism … and they are supporting terrorists.”
