Trump campaign manager: Our VP list is ‘very small’

Despite weeks of speculation surrounding Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick, a top aide for the Republican nominee claims the candidate’s list of potential running mates is much smaller than the media has portrayed it to be.

“I can say that the list is very small,” Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told “Fox News” on Sunday.

Trump’s right-hand man noted that the billionaire and his team have “a very good understanding of who those individuals will be,” but that the decision will ultimately “be made by Mr. Trump.”

Trump charged Lewandowski with overseeing the vice presidential vetting process earlier this month. The campaign is said to be working with Washington-based lawyer A.B. Culvahouse Jr., who assisted Arizona Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign in 2008 with the search for a running mate.

Some of Trump’s former opponents, like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and existing policy advisers have often been floated as potential running mates.

The New York businessman had repeatedly said he intends to announce his vice presidential pick at the Republican National Convention in late July.
