President Trump is throwing his support behind Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., in a robocall set to be released a day before the GOP senate primary.
The two-minute robocall, which was obtained by Politico, is expected to be released Monday will cite Trump’s support ahead of the election contest on Tuesday. The winner of the primary will go on to face Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., in the general election this fall.
Barletta represents a blue-collar district in the northern part of the state. He is facing state Rep. Jim Christiana in the primary Tuesday.
Trump also condemns Casey in the robocall. Polls show Casey ahead of Barletta in a hypothetical general election match-up. Trump said that Casey has been a disaster in the Senate and is “Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi’s guy,” a reference to the Democratic congressional leadership.
